Data in hidden rows/columns appears in data maps due to option not used.
Cause:
This behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel. Unlike regular Excel charts, data map charts include data in hidden cells unless the 'Select Visible Cells' toolbar button is used.
Solution:
Place the 'Select Visible Cells' toolbar button on the worksheet and use it to select the data to chart.
1) Place the 'Select Visible Cells' toolbar button on the worksheet:
a) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Toolbars...'. (The Toolbars dialog box appears.)
b) Click 'Customize...'. (The Customize dialog box appears.)
c) Select 'Utility' from the 'Categories' list box.
d) Drag the 'Select Visible Cells' toolbar button to the worksheet.

2) Click 'Select Visible Cells' toolbar button.
3) Select the cells to chart.
4) Create the data map chart.
